Set in the Mayan civilization, when a man's idyllic presence is brutally disrupted by a violent invading force, he is taken on a perilous journey to a world ruled by fear and oppression where a harrowing end awaits him. During the escape sequence where the two enslaved men run for freedom while spears are thrown, Jaguar Paw’s friend (the larger-built one) is initially struck with a spear that appears to go in through his armpit. However, in the following shot where he is shown gasping, the spear’s entry point has shifted noticeably and is now positioned closer to the center of his chest.

the large sacrifice scene is framed around a solar eclipse, which occurs when the Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. Later, in what appears to be the same night, the film shows a full moon lighting the sky. This creates a continuity issue, since a full moon only occurs when the Moon is positioned opposite the Sun, roughly two weeks after an eclipse.

When the alpha-hunter’s son is killed, seven additional hunters arrive to back him up. However, in the following scene, and throughout the chase, there are suddenly eight hunters accompanying the leader, creating a noticeable inconsistency.

in the scene of nighttime jungle chase, Jaguar Paw pauses to rest and looks back toward the approaching torches. In the close-up shots of his face, the piercing in his lower lip is missing. However, in the next moment—when he turns away from the torches and resumes running—the piercing is visible again.

that’s Jaguar Paw’s emergency stealth mode. Lip piercing off = don’t track me, I’m just a regular forest concept. Lip piercing on = actually I’ve decided to accessorize during this high-speed ancestral sprint. Honestly, given the pace of that chase, I’m impressed he didn’t lose the piercing, the camera crew, and half the rainforest

in the scene where Jaguar Paw and his wife are resting by the fire and watching a ceremonial dance, their son is shown asleep on his side. In the very next shot, he appears awake and lying on his back, playing with his hands..
