Synopsis

Loosely based on the criminal career of Frank Lucas, a gangster from La Grange, North Carolina, who smuggled heroin into the United States on American service planes returning from the Vietnam War, before being detained by a task force led by Newark Detective Richie Roberts.

as the C-130 taxis along the runway just before the police search of the aircraft, a C-17 Globemaster can be seen in the background. However, this creates a historical inconsistency, since the C-17 only had its maiden flight in 1991, making its presence in the scene an anachronism.

If you look closely at the backgrounds while Frank is in the airport and again when he is being arrested as he walks from the church, two passing cars can be seen that were not produced until at least 2000

On the left side of the frame, a C-17 Globemaster is clearly visible, whereas the helicopter was stated as C-130, even though this aircraft (C-17) was not introduced until 1993, roughly two decades after the time period in which the scene is set
